Using hobbies & talents to give back to the community

As an IT professional who does a lot of side work for various organizations, Jeff has provided free webhosting and/or photography services to many community organizations.

Until just before the 2017 election Jeff provided free hosting to the Nordonia Hills Preschool Parents, since he and his wife were part of the group when their daughter Jessica was younger. (NHPP recently moved to a Facebook only page)

Photography has been an interest of Jeff's since he was "exposed" to film in sixth grade. In 2010, he won a travel photography contest with the Plain Dealer.

When his daughter started cheering for The Nordonia Twinsburg Youth Football League, Jeff saw an opportunity to photograph kids flying through the air. For the many years when Jessica cheered for NTYF Jeff provided parents of teams action sports photography, free of charge.

His daughter Jessica is also a company dancer with Center Stage Dance Studio and travels to competitions every year. Every June Jeff captures over 10,000 images at CSDS’ June recital at Nordonia High School, and has provided (at no charge) professional-quality photos to the parents and dancers at the studio. (This year he's a little behind due to a broken finger!)

In an effort to more frequently force himself to practice complex photography in poor conditions and under pressure, Jeff has started to keep his camera bag packed and ready to cover major incidents around town.

When he realized he was often taking photographs of scenes that nobody in the local media could react to quickly enough, he started offering his work to The News Leader and various local television stations in exchange for attribution.

In the very early hours of July 13th, 2008 Jeff had just finished a very late project at his office on Highland Road in Twinsburg and was driving home. It quickly became apparent that a number of area police cars were rushing into the City of Twinsburg. "That night and the loss of Officer Miktarian is something I will never forget," said Jeff.

"I am and always have been a proponent of our police and firemen.  The best man in our wedding is a Geauga County Deputy, and a great friend of mine just retired from the Cleveland Police Department. Many of my friends and acquaintances happen to be police officers."

When Jeff learned of the memorial gathering area police officers hold in the early hours every year he began to do what he felt he could to tastefully record and share that with those who live in the area.
